Durant High School Air Quality Reports

Based on reports from two independent consultants, Durant High School has been deemed well within acceptable air quality levels.  However, the district has taken additional measures to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.  Detailed reports, linked below, indicate the air quality is very good and is at or better than outdoor air quality.  Also there is no presence of black mold.

The Board of Education of the Durant Independent School District would like to advertise the following Request for Proposals. Bids must meet the requirements of the specifications listed. All addenda, if issued, will be posted with the bid documentation below.

 

DISTRICT SURPLUS

The Durant Independent School District is offering to the highest bidder equipment deemed surplus. Equipment is in operating condition unless otherwise noted and is sold in "as is" condition.

The Board of Education of the Durant Independent School District will receive bids at the Administration Office, 1323 Waco Street, Durant, OK 74701. Envelopes containing bids must be sealed and addressed as follows:

Payment must be made by cash or certified check within seven (7) calendar days of the successful award notification. Items not claimed by that time will then be offered to the next highest bidder. Items awarded must be removed from our premises within 14 calendar days of the successful award notification. Henry F. Miller upright piano age unsure. First date of service was 1985 from Robert Payne. serial # 90413. Piano and bench only, does not include rolling stand with sale. piano needs serviced and lid hinges replaced.  Please see instructions at the top of this page regarding bids.

Function of the Board

The Durant Board of Education is a legislative body of five (5) members elected by a vote of the district. The board of education derives its authority from state law. The board's power is judicial and legislative, and the superintendent elected by the board serves as its executive officer. When not in legal session, a board member has no legal authority whatsoever.

The legislative function of the board is to make plans and policies, select the superintendent, and delegate to the superintendent the placing of plans and policies into operation, and provide the financial means for their achievement.

The judicial function of the board is to hear and resolve hearings, grievances, disciplinary appeals, public complaints and other actions of a judicial nature.

Board Meetings

Regular board meetings are held each month at the District Central Administration Building Conference Room. If a meeting date falls on a holiday, the meeting will be held on the following night. Special meeting may be called as need arises. The public is always invited to regularly scheduled open board meetings.

Location and hours of operation

The District Administration Office is located at 1323 Waco, on the corner of North Washington Avenue and Waco Street, and houses the Superintendent's offices, Human Resources & Finance, Educational Services and Indian Education. Central Auxiliary Services is located just East of the Administration office and houses Central Enrollment, Child Nutrition and Professional Development services.

Both office are open Mondays through Thursdays between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, and close at 4:00 pm on Friday. The central offices are closed for school holidays and on Fridays during June and July.
