Child nutrition is a vital part of learning

Healthy learners

Durant Independent School District recognizes that children's nutritional needs must be met to produce healthy learners. The District contracts it's food service with Sodexho, a leading provider of quality food service across the nation.

Flexible choices

The District strives to offer our students quality nutrition and a variety of choices to appease the individual tastes of our students. The following list is a summary of our food service programs:

Cafeteria services
Our cafeterias serve breakfast and lunch every school day with a fresh menu selection.
Breakfast in the classroom
For students and parents who are unable to get to school early enough to eat breakfast in the cafeteria, several of our elementary schools serve a light breakfast in the classroom to insure our students don't start the day on an empty stomach.
Online PrePayment System
With current national attention being focused on children’s health and wellness issues, the Durant Public School District’s Food Service Department is excited to provide parents a convenient, easy and secure online prepayment service to deposit money into your child’s school meal account at any time through MyNutrikids.com. Also, parents will have the ability to print a copy of their child’s eating history report. This history report will show you all dates and times that your child has purchased a breakfast and or lunch within the past thirty days. We are very excited to offer these new services, and are confident this new system will benefit you, your child and our District.
A la carte

At Durant Middle School and Durant High School, students have the option of choosing a la carte menu items as well as the standard cafeteria choices.

Federal free and reduced lunch program

Durant Independent School District encourages parents to apply for the Federal free and reduced lunch program. Eligibility depends not only on income but number in household, and many of our students qualify for either free meals or meals reduced over 75% in price! You can now apply for free or reduced school meals online at www.schoollunchapp.com.
