Special Programs
Durant Independent School District has many special programs designed to engage special groups of students, parents, and community citizens in the education process:
- Adult and GED Education
- Our adult education programs allows adult learners to continue their education or pick up where they left off and help them attain their GED.
- Character Education
- The District realizes the responsibility of excellent student academic preparedness, but also recognizes that character counts.
- Drug Prevention
- The District understand the problem of drugs in our society and will do everything it can to keep them out of our schools.
- GEAR-UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs)
- GEAR-UP is an exciting program to get our students thinking about college and higher education at a younger age.
- Indian Education
- Our native American education programs offer special learning, tutoring, and mentoring for our native American students.
- OPAT (Oklahoma Parents as Teachers)
- OPAT is a program designed to begin the learning process early in a child's life (birth - 2 years old).
- PSO (Parent Student Organization)
- PSO is an organization of parents who are involved in the schools and their children's learning experience.
- Safe Schools Healthy Students
- Safe Schools Healthy School is a program to promote a safe learning community by equipping students, parents, and community citizens with skills, knowledge, standards, and resources to live healthy lives.
District-wide services
Durant Independent School District offers many services to students that support and nurture all areas of student success in the classroom:
- Food Service
- Learn about our cafeterias, child nutrition, and school lunch and breakfast programs.
- School Nurses
- Learn about our school nurses and the services they offer to promote and protect you child's health.
- Transportation
- Learn more about the District's transportation systems, as well as important information about dropping off and picking up your child safely.
