Keeping drugs out of our schools
Durant Independent School District is committed to keeping our students safe from drugs and other substance abuse. The District has a zero-tolerance policy and works with local law enforcement to curtail this problem.
The District employs several drug prevention measures:
- LifeSkills® training
- Part of the Safe Schools Healthy Students program, LifeSkills® Training is a three year intervention program designed to prevent or reduce gateway drug use (i.e. tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana), primarily implemented in school classrooms by school teachers.
- LifeSkills® website
- Drug Free Youth
- DFY is a voluntary drug testing program at Durant High School so students to show that they are drug free.
- Drug awareness
- Many of our schools conduct special drug awareness programs throughout the year, including Drug Free Week and Red Ribbon Week.
