Durant Public Schools believes in the importance of keeping students safe and secure, whether they are in a classroom, an extracurricular activity or even traveling between school and home. Not only is keeping students safe and secure important, it is a priority. A safe and secure school environment is essential to the learning process. All of our school sites have electronically locked door systems and provide a barrier to direct student access for visitors. DISD Emergency procedures are currently in place for:

Power Outages/Utility Failures
Medical Emergencies
Lost or Missing Children
Hazardous Material Spills
Bomb Threats/Suspicious Packages
Assaults
Weapons on School Grounds
Fire/ExplosionsSevere Weather
Lockdowns for any reason

Each year, administrators review emergency procedures, security concerns and safety precautions for its students, families and staff. Also, students participate in routine drills to help students feel more comfortable in the event of an actual emergency. Learn more by thoroughly reviewing our 2016-2017 Emergency Procedures Guide.

We encourage parents to know our procedures and feel free to contact us if you have any safety or security concerns. If you have information about a threat to our safety, we encourage you to report it to our Superintendent's office and know your information will remain anonymous.
