Northwest Heights was the first campus in the Durant Independent School District to have a fully automated library system. Students come into the library and go to a computer to find the book they desire.
After completing a search of the libraries currently available books, the students then proceed to find their book with the help of the library staff. Once students have decided upon the book of their choice, they are then directed to the check-out counter.
The students' book are then scanned by a barcode scanner attached to a computer. The students name is also scanned and the student is quickly on their way back to the classroom. The NWH library has over 13,000 books available to the nearly 600 students enrolled.
Students read and study in the library media center.
