Peer Assistance and Leadership is part of the District's Safe Schools Healthy Students program.
PAL® Peer Assistance and Leadership is an effective training in "resiliency" strategies. The PAL® peer helping program combats problems such as violence in schools, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, gang participation and school dropouts by providing a critical line of defense both at school and in the home through building peer helping skills. Trained high school PAL® students act as mentors for their peers as well as younger students. They are also involved in service learning projects.
Skills that PAL® students learn are as follows:
