Band students will be out today for the OSSAA State Solo and Ensemble contest. Please check the list of students to be excused.
Tennis will travel to Oklahoma City for a tournament today. Please check the list of students to be excused.
Golf will travel to Ardmore for a golf tournament. Please check the list of players to be excused.
Varsity baseball will travel to Deer Creek for a tournament. Players need to be dismissed at 10:55 today. Sub-varsity players will host Ardmore at home today. Game time is 4:30.
Anyone interested in running for Student Council next year please see Ms. Lowry in room #17 to pick up information. Please remember that student council is a leadership organization and needs to be run by the most motivated, sincere leaders that Durant High has.
Media Production class applications are available from Mrs. Hix in room 37. The deadline to turn in applications is Friday, April 18 th.
Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College will be having an Open House April 17, 18, 24, & 25. Students interested in attending NEO are invited to attend one of these days to meet with an advisor and complete admissions and enrollment. Interested students should sign up in the counselor’s office.
OU’s chapter of the Society of Women Engineers will be hosting the annual High School Girls’ Day event on Friday, April 18 th from 9 AM -3 PM. Contact the office if you are interested.
JUNIORS---The University of Oklahoma will be hosting OU Junior Day 2008 on Aril 19 th. The event is free and open to high school juniors and their families to explore the possibilities they have at the University of Oklahoma. See the counselors for more information.
Seniors interested in attending Grayson County College are invited to attend Senior Day on April 30, 2008. Students will receiver GCC information and get a chance to have some fun all at the same time. Grayson will be providing lunch and there will be a GCC baseball game at 1:00. Seniors must register in the counselor’s office.
Seniors planning to attend OSU in the fall have the opportunity to attend Camp Cowboy during the summer to help ease the transition from high school to college. This is a weekend event designed to help students meet new friends, learn OSU traditions, and interact with faculty members. Interested students should contact the counselors for a registration form.

Oklahoma City Community Foundation administers the state’s largest independent scholarship award program. Students may access the list of available scholarships at www.occf.org and click on the scholarship center. There are scholarships that are for Durant High School graduates only. If students have questions, please see the counselors.
Students interested in attending Grayson County College and are considering the Honors College can apply for the Presidential Scholarship. Information is available in the main office.
Robert C Byrd Honors Scholarship for seniors who plan to attend an institution of higher learning (private or public). Applications are in the main office.
The Kerr Center is sponsoring an essay contest for juniors and seniors with cash prizes awarded to the first 3 winners. Information is available in the main office.

Applications are in the office for the Class of 1947 scholarship. Seniors planning to attend SOSU are eligible to apply. Deadline for turning in your completed application is Thursday, April 17 th. Completed applications should be turned in to the office. This scholarship is for $500.00.
Kim Holder Bradford Scholarship Applications are in the office. Seniors should pick up a copy and return it completed to the counselors. Deadline is May 5, 2008.
Applications for the Jason C. Wagner Foundation Scholarship are available in the office. This scholarship is in the amount of $2500.00 and may be used at any accredited institution for higher education in the state of Oklahoma. Application and essay are required. Deadline is June 1, 2008.
Applications for the OSU Aerospace Summer Academy June 8-19, 2008 are available in the office. This is a free academy for students who will be a junior or senior next year. Students will cover the following topics: Space Shuttle, Living in Space, Aerospace Careers, Astronomy, Flight, Lunar Geology and Space Exploration. Field trips will be taken to Oklahoma Aerospace industries and to the NASA Johnson Space Center.
