A program for school community
School Community
The purpose of Rise and Shine is to create a sense of community within the school. It helps create a threat-free environment, which is needed these days. Rise and Shine is a way to begin each day positively, and helps build confidence and self-esteem.
Rise and Shine is a demonstration of our school creed—responsibility for doing the ceremony, celebration in the accomplishment, and definitely courage to get in front of your peers (even as a group).
Students visit before Rise and Shine.
DIS Rise and Shine includes the following activities:
- Pledge of Allegiance
- Salute to flag of Oklahoma
- School creed
- Moment of silence
- Word of the Week, poetry
- Recognition of birthdays
- Announcements
- Perfect attendance awards, Principal's awards
- Dismissal of students to morning class
