Parent involvement
Parental involvement is key to a strong, healthy school. The PSO at our school hosts many event to raise funds and show support for the students.
Volunteer parents are needed! Here are some of the events and ways you can help support your child's school:
Students purchase items from the Valentine's Store hosted by the PSO.
- Homeroom Parents
- Parents who assist the homeroom teachers. Because every teachers needs are different, the tasks may vary. Some examples would be party planning, helping put up decorations for holidays, making copies etc. This may be a responsibility that two parents may want to share.
- Pizza Day
- This is a fundraiser that does not require your child to sell or deliver anything and is during lunch so there is no conflict with after school activities. For $5.00 they get to eat pizza, drink soda and socialize with their friends at lunch.
- Library Book Fair
- Volunteers will help children find books and handle sales.
- Fall Carnival
- Activities include games, prizes, food, give-a-ways, contests, and more. PSO volunteers are needed for the committee, and event volunteers are needed to decorate, run the concession stand, contests, drawings, booths, and clean up.
- Veteran's Day
- Veterans from the area come to the school and share stories with the children. Children are asked invite family members, friends, and neighbors who are veterans. Homeroom parents to help the teachers with decorating, but volunteers are needed for inside traffic control, assistance with breakfast for the Veterans, and other needs.
- Cupid Express
- The store is set up to encourage the children to learn to give from the heart and how to communicate their feelings. Every child gets a Valentine delivered on Valentine's Day. The children can purchase Valentines for their friends, family, teacher or whom ever they choose. Parents can also come and purchase Valentines for their children. We set up a post office and the children can mail the Valentine's to each other. We need committee members and volunteers to find items for the store, help run the store, and make the deliveries on Valentine's Day.
- Fund-Run
- There is NO selling, pick-ups or deliveries. The children are given donation forms and they collect donations from family, friends, parents' co-workers, etc. (For safety reasons there are to be no door to door solicitations). Winners of various categories are awarded the opportunity to put a pie in a teacher's face. Also if we raise our goal, Mr. Harrison gets slimed. We need committee members and volunteers to set up, help during the run, and clean up afterwards.
- Test Monitors
- All three grade levels take the Oklahoma Core Curriculum tests. It is mandatory that each teacher have a Test Monitor.
- Spring Fling
- The show needs committee members, stage hands, ticket takers, sound and lighting volunteers, etc. As we get closer to the event we will have more detailed information and a list of volunteer needs.
- Fun Days
- The PSO also hosts a fun day for children which usually involves some kind of field trip. Many volunteers are needed.
Please contact the school if you would like to volunteer for any of these events.
