A new school year is off and running. Everyone is settled in and learning has begun. Our school is a great place to be due to a dedicated staff, fantastic students, involved parents, and a wonderful community.
We are approximately 660 students strong. That makes us the second largest school in the district behind Durant High School. Durant is growing and with that come new challenges for our schools. We strive to provide the best possible education for each student in an ever changing environment. This is what continues to make education an exciting quest. It is with parents’ help we can continue to serve the varied needs of every student.
Durant Intermediate School is dedicated to continuous improvement. Over the last four years we have been able to increase our Academic Performance Index each year. This is the score given to us by the state department based on our state testing results and partially on attendance. Our goal is to raise this score each year while attending to every students individual needs.
I encourage parents to be involved at school. We have two parent organizations available for you to participate in. They are our Parent Support Organization (PSO) and Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students). Information will be distributed through our Tuesday packs and through our weekly newsletter.
