Northwest Heights Elementary, located in Durant, Oklahoma, has been named by the Oklahoma State Department of Education as a High Performing school and has received the Certified Healthy School Award at the Excellence level. Northwest Heights takes great pride in a long legacy of academic and student success. High academic standards, paired with a cooperative effort among teachers, parents, administrators, and staff have created optimal learning experiences for all students. The Northwest Heights family agrees that learning experiences outside of the classroom also benefit student learning. Field trips to the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum, Sharkarosa Ranch, American Airlines Center, Baker’s Acres Pumpkin Patch, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, as well as virtual field trips though the use of technology, make a more rounded NWH student. Speakers, authors, and other community resources are welcomed into our school each year and provide meaningful learning experiences for children.
The NWH Parent Support Organization is an active and vital resource to our school and our students. Our PSO assures that all students have opportunities to participate and attend field trips, purchases enrichment materials for classrooms, outdoor play equipment, as well as sponsors many other successful school wide events.
Thank you for visiting our website and we welcome you to visit and see first-hand what makes Northwest Heights a “great place to learn!”
